Before we link to a HappyMod APK on this site, we download the exact file our download button serves and check what is inside it. This page lists what we check, the results for the current file, and how you can check the same file yourself.
What we check for every APK
- The file size in bytes, so you can tell if a download was cut off or swapped.
- The SHA-256 checksum, a fingerprint that changes if even one byte of the file changes.
- The package name, version name and version code read from the APK’s own manifest, not from a download page.
- The minimum Android version and target Android version declared in the manifest.
- The signing certificate fingerprint. An update signed with a different certificate is not the same app, and Android will refuse to install it over the old one.
- The date we checked.

We list a newer version only after we have the file itself and have checked it the same way. A higher version number on another site is not enough.
Check the file yourself
- Compare the file size on your phone with the size above.
- Look up the SHA-256 on VirusTotal, or upload the file you downloaded there. VirusTotal scans files with dozens of antivirus engines. If your file’s checksum is different from ours, do not install it.
- Keep Google Play Protect turned on, and only allow “Install unknown apps” for the browser or file manager you are using, then turn it off again.
