Most HappyMod update errors come down to one Android rule: an update must be signed with the same certificate as the app already installed, and must have a higher version code. If either is wrong, Android says “App not installed”. This guide explains how to update HappyMod safely, and how to fix each error you might see.
The latest version we have checked is HappyMod 3.4.0 (version code 290, 20.05 MB, Android 5.0+).
How to update HappyMod
- Check which version you have: Settings → Apps → HappyMod, then scroll to the version number at the bottom.
- Download the new APK from the download page. Compare its size and SHA-256 with How We Check APK Files.
- Open the APK. When the signatures match, Android asks whether you want to install an update to the existing app. Tap Update or Install.
- Open HappyMod. Your download list and settings are kept.
You don’t need to uninstall first. All seven builds on our old versions page, from 3.2.1 to 3.4.0, share one signing certificate, so each one installs over the others as an update.

“App not installed” during an update
Cause 1: different signature. Your current HappyMod came from a site that re-signed it. Android won’t let a differently signed file replace it. Fix: uninstall HappyMod, then install the new version. Your installed MODs stay; only HappyMod’s own download list and settings are lost.
Cause 2: you are installing an older version. The file you opened has a lower version code than the one installed (for example 3.3.3 over 3.4.0). Fix: if you really want the older version, uninstall first. Otherwise download the latest one.
Cause 3: not enough storage. An update needs room for the old app, the new APK and the unpacked new app at the same time. Free at least 60 MB and try again.
Cause 4: incomplete download. Compare the file size with the table above and download again if it doesn’t match.
“There was a problem parsing the package”
The APK is damaged or needs a newer Android than your phone runs. All HappyMod builds above need Android 5.0. Download the file again; if the error stays, see app not installed and parse error fixes.
The update installs but HappyMod crashes
Clear HappyMod’s cache under Settings → Apps → HappyMod → Storage → Clear cache, then restart the phone. If it still crashes, clear storage (you lose HappyMod’s download list, not your MODs). Still crashing? Install the previous version, 3.3.3, after uninstalling. More in HappyMod keeps crashing.
HappyMod keeps asking to update
The app may show an update prompt when a newer build exists. Install updates only from a source that lists the file’s version, size and checksum. If a prompt leads to a different site or asks for payment, ignore it.
Updating MODs, not HappyMod
MOD apps you installed through HappyMod update separately. A MOD can only update over the same MOD signed with the same key. If a MOD update fails with “App not installed”, uninstall the MOD and install the new one, knowing that its local progress may be lost unless it syncs to an account.
FAQs
Will updating HappyMod delete my MODs?
No. MODs are separate apps. Updating, or even uninstalling, HappyMod leaves them installed.
Do I need to uninstall the old version first?
Not when the signatures match, as they do for every build we list. Uninstall only for Cause 1 or Cause 2 above.
Is there a HappyMod 3.4.6?
Some sites list higher version numbers. We only list a version after checking the file itself, so 3.4.0 is the latest one on this site. A higher number alone doesn’t prove a file is newer or official.
